A co-worker had once worked as a salesman at a well-known local car dealership. He told this tale:
It was almost time to quit after a slow day. A ragged old pickup truck rolled in. None of the other salesmen was interested in wasting their time, so I walked out to meet the driver, obviously a working man with many miles under his belt.
He was interested in one of the nicer trucks we had on the lot and asked about the price. I told him, and he asked if I would wait while he went home to get the money. I said I would.
I figured I had seen the last of him, but, sure enough, he came back.
He got out, peeled 100 dollar bills from a big roll, until the agreed-upon price was lying on the hood.
After some paperwork, he drove off - leaving me for a better appreciation for the old saying: Never judge a book by its cover!
